Marian University (Wisconsin) will celebrate its 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., on the Marian University Quad, recognizing the academic achievements of its graduating class.
The ceremony will bring together graduates, faculty, staff, families, and friends to honor the hard work, dedication, and perseverance demonstrated by Marian students throughout their academic journeys. The event reflects Marian University’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service.
Serving as the student speaker is Easton Nick, a finance and business administration major and forward for Marian University’s ACHA Division 2 men’s hockey team. He was a key offensive leader for the Sabres and known for his high-impact performances, including a standout four-point game during the 2026 Hap Cup title defense and multiple clutch scoring moments throughout his career. He will address fellow graduates and share reflections on their shared experiences and future aspirations.
The commencement address will be delivered by Sr. Dianne Bergant. Sr. Dianne is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes. She has served on the faculty at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) from 1978 to 2023. She served as President of Catholic Biblical Association of America (20002001) and as the Rev. Robert J. Randall Distinguished Professor of Christian Culture at Providence College (2009-2010). She was awarded honorary doctorates from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University (California, 2013), Marian University (2014), and the Catholic University of Australia (Melbourne, Victoria, 2015). She was an active member of the Chicago Catholic/Jewish Scholars Dialogue (1988-2017), a member of the Board of Trustees, Sacred Heart School of Theology (1983-1989), and of St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee, WI (1996-2005). She sat on the editorial boards of The Bible Today (1979-2005), Biblical Theology Bulletin (1990-2014), Catholic Biblical Quarterly (1992-2001), New Theology Review (1997-2003), Teaching Theology and Religion (2003-2005), and Chicago Studies (2003-2009). She has taught and lectured in various places in the United States, as well as in South Africa, Namibia, Trinidad, England, Ireland, Kiribati, the Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, Nicaragua, Rome, Australia, and New Zealand.
The ceremony will include the conferral of degrees across Marian University’s undergraduate and graduate programs, marking a significant milestone for students as they begin the next chapter of their personal and professional lives.
