Canceling or Changing Your Aid

Canceling or Changing Your Aid

Financial Aid Process - Optional Step 10

Financial aid awards may be revised during the academic year due to changes in your family’s income, uncovered medical expenses, shifts in household size, enrollment or housing status, or receipt of outside resources. You may be required to verify the financial data on your FAFSA, and if selected for verification, you’ll need to submit certain documents to our office. If your eligibility changes after this review, your aid may be revised, and you’ll receive notice of any adjustments. We work hard to ensure you receive the maximum assistance available from federal, state, and Marian resources, though regulations and availability may limit some program funds and eligibility.

To Modify a Loan

If a student or parent wishes to modify a loan, they must submit this required information to the Office of Financial Aid before any changes can be made.

  • A dated and signed note (not electronic) indicating the academic year the loan is for (i.e., 2024-25)
  • The revised loan amount
  • The student name that this change is applicable for

Canceling Aid

If you need to cancel all or part of your financial aid and it hasn’t yet been disbursed to your account, simply send us a signed and dated letter specifying the type(s) and amount of aid you’d like to cancel. Students withdrawing from Marian must complete a cancellation form through the Registrar’s Office on MyMarian.

Changing Aid (Transfer Students)

If you are transferring to or from Marian University, be sure to cancel any financial aid at your current school. To receive aid at your next institution, update the school code on your FAFSA online using your FAFSA ID. (Marian’s FAFSA code is 003861.) We’re here to support you through your transfer!
