TRIO
Empowering Dreams with TRIO at Marian University
At Marian University, we believe every student deserves the chance to achieve their dreams—no matter where they come from or the challenges they face. That’s why we’re proud to be a recipient of the Federal TRIO grant, a program dedicated to opening doors and creating opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.
TRIO is more than a program; it’s a lifeline. From providing personalized support for Marian University students to offering math and science guidance for local high schoolers, TRIO helps turn aspirations into reality.
Turning Potential into Achievement through TRIO
Through TRIO, we’re building brighter futures—one student at a time. Whether you’re tackling a challenging course, navigating the path to college, or pursuing a career in STEM, Marian University and TRIO are here to support you every step of the way.
Student Support Services (SSS)
Students selected to participate in the TRIO-Student Support Services (SSS) program receive individualized assistance from professional, caring staff members to help navigate through the college experience. We’ll support you until your graduation and assist you into a career. Our services are offered FREE of charge. Our program is funded by a federal TRIO Grant of $253,000 annually for the 2020-2025 program years. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants. Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS)
Marian University’s Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS) is one of the federally funded TRIO programs, whose purpose is to educate potential first generation college students and/or low income high school students in relation to graduation from high school, transition to college, and the pursuit of post-secondary degrees in mathematics and science. This purpose aligns with the teaching mission of Marian University and fosters relationship with the local and global community.
