FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Park University of Missouri, a partnership aimed to offer students additional educational opportunities in the area of thanatology.
“Park and Marian are uniquely positioned to collaborate,” said Dr. Janet McCord, associate professor of Thanatology. “Their undergraduate certificate program will prepare individuals for further study in thanatology at the graduate level at Marian and Marian students living in the Kansas City area will find opportunities as interns at the Park University Center for the Study of Loss.”
This MOU is the first of its kind for Marian University in that it supports an environment where both institutions of higher learning will work collaboratively to support the educational needs of students interested in studying thanatology. This pioneering approach will give students both undergraduate and graduate options. Together, Marian and Park University will provide a knowledge base so students can be better prepared for work in situations that deal with end-of-life issues. This MOU will take effect in summer 2015.
