Marian University softball (14-14, 8-8 NACC) was defeated by Concordia Wisconsin 10-2 in five innings and 6-2 at home.

GAME 1

  • Concordia Wisconsin jumped all over the Sabres scoring three runs in the opening inning and adding a run in the second to lead 4-0.
  • Marian was able to show life in the third when senior Katelyn Matenaer hit a two-run homer, her fourth home run in three games.
  • This cut the Marian deficit to 4-2, but the Falcons responded in the next half inning with a run to lead 5-2.
  • Concordia Wisconsin would end the game early with five runs in the fifth where three of the runs were unearned.

GAME 2

  • The Falcons opened with a run in the top of the first before Matenaer drove in another run in the second to tie the game at 1-1.
  • The Falcons were able to score three runs in the third and took a 4-1 edge.
  • Sophomore Hope Matta was able to cut the deficit in half with a single that drove in a run in the fourth.
  • Concordia Wisconsin was able to take advantage of Sabre miscues defensively plating a run in the sixth and seventh to put the final at 6-2.
