Today’s workplaces are evolving, and so are the needs of those looking to drive them. The Marian University Center for Organizational Success helps organizations and aspiring leaders learn the skills needed to positively impact their field and create rewarding careers.

Our Mission

Guided by our Agnesian Catholic values and focus on Ethics, Leadership and Innovation, we provide a distinct educational opportunity by leveraging on-site workshops and customizable programs to individually serve organizations seeking professional development.

This includes:

  • The Discovery Process – Where our facilitators work with senior-level leadership to gauge organizational strengths and challenges before setting goals and desired outcomes.
  • A Format For You – Online and face-to-face courses, as well as webinars and in-services, are also available.
  • On Your Own Time – Whether you need an hour, a half day, or even a full day or two, we’ll work to meet your needs at the location that’s best for you.
  • Tailored Training and Topics – The program sessions created are based on the needs of the organization.

Join Wendy Baughman in a series of workshops sponsored by Marian University’s Center for Organizational Success. These professional development workshops are designed for individuals and businesses seeking to grow leadership skills, improve communication skills, and increase productivity in any professional setting.

June 16 – How to Lead, Not just Manage

July 28 – How to Handle Challenging People

August 18 – Organize and Prioritize for Increased Productivity

All classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Sessions in May, July, and August will be held in the Stayer Center, rooms 217-218. The June session will be held in the Ridenour Science Center room 115. The cost is $89.00 per individual per session.

Classes will be limited to 30 participants. For organizations that sign up 10 or more people, personalized sessions can be arranged at your location and tailored to your business.

About the Speaker

Wendy Baughman started her career as a music and theatre teacher in Southern California. Relocating to the Kansas City, Missouri area, she opened a franchise in the point-of-sale industry. After building a successful business, she refocused her expertise in developing people and organizations. By working as an international trainer, speaker, and business coach, Wendy has enabled others to realize their full potential.

Wendy’s undergraduate work in theatre and music coupled with an MBA focused in behavior and organizational management, give her the ability to provide engaging and substantive learning experiences. She has given hundreds of seminars to thousands of people. Wendy and her husband, currently reside in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Workshop 2: How to Lead, Not just Manage

Anyone can have the title of a manager or supervisor, but rare is the individual who can really lead people. Leadership is about setting the example, knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and having a positive influence on those with whom you interact and work. This workshop is geared toward those currently in a leadership position, as well as those who may be looking to advance into a leadership position, whether they have authority or not. In this workshop you will learn:

  • Why leadership is essential to management
  • How to build credibility, influence, and trust
  • The different levels of teams and needs required at each level
  • How to appreciate your own style of management and lead from your strengths
  • How to manage former peers and friends
  • How to handle conflict, poor performance, and challenging behavior
  • How to delegate with confidence

Workshop 3: How to Handle Challenging People

There will always be difficult people. The more we try to change challenging people, the more stress, anger, and frustration we cause ourselves. This workshop helps you understand what motivates unacceptable behavior, but more importantly what we can do for ourselves to keep our stress level low. This is a workshop for those who manage others, and for anyone who may work with a difficult boss, co-worker, or family member. In this workshop you will learn:

  • The difference between different and difficult
  • Why people are difficult
  • How to address others and their behavior
  • How your actions and behaviors can trigger others
  • How to communicate better with difficult people
  • Tips for handling our own emotions when we’re triggered

Workshop 4: Organize and Prioritize for Increased Productivity

We all have 24 hours in the day and we choose how we’re going to spend those hours. Time is something you can never get back. Once it’s spent, it’s gone forever. This workshop is about getting the most out of every minute, so that we have more time to spend with loved ones and doing what we enjoy the most. If you feel you never have enough time to get all of your work done, and you’re stressed a little bit more each day, then this workshop is for you. You will learn to:

  • Identify certain aspects of your personality that may hold you back
  • Establish priorities and begin to focus on goals – not being busy
  • Manage time-wasters
  • Take steps to conquer procrastination
  • Eliminate perfectionism
  • Organize your life so nothing falls through the cracks
