Marian University men’s hockey (6-12-3, 1-10-2-1 NCHA) dropped the series finale with MSOE 7-2 at home.
The Sabres controlled the action in the opening period but a breakaway with just 1:21 left in the period saw MSOE take a 1-0 advantage. The Raiders added to their lead to open the second period scoring at the 5:43 mark.
Marian then had a strong finish to the stanza with sophomore Austin Nault getting the Sabres on the board at teh 9:38 mark, assists to freshman Jordan Simoneau and sophomore Nolan Kadachuk. Simoneau then scored a power-play score without an assist with 2:12 left in the period to send the two squads into the final period tied at 2-2.
The final period was all MSOE as the Raiders scored three goals in the first 7:03 of the period and closed out the game with a pair of power-play scores.
The Sabres were outshot for the game 39-30 after giving up 17 shots in the final period. Junior Colby Muise (5-11-3) would make 32 stops in net for the Sabres.
Marian hosts Finlandia Friday, February 4 at 7 p.m. in NCHA action.
