MEQUON, Wis. – Marian University women’s lacrosse (1-12, 1-4 NACC) led at halftime but fell to CUW 11-7.
The first quarter was busy as the two squads combined for seven goals. The Falcons were able to score the first three goals of the game only to have Marian score three of the next four as CUW built a 4-3 lead. Sophomore Nicole Stachon had two of the Sabre goals with one coming with a one-person advantage. Marian then shut out the Falcons in the second quarter and built a 6-4 lead going into halftime. Freshman Izzy Newton scored two of the Marian goals with Stachon assisting both scores.
The Sabres were then limited to just one goal in the second half when freshman Emma Heide scored her second of the game in the in the third quarter to tie the score at 7-7. The Falcons then scored four unanswered goals to close out the game.
Stachon finished with four points to go with four draw controls and a caused turnovers. Sophomore Dallas Kreisa recorded a pair of caused turnovers. Freshman Gwen Kosirog (1-12) made 13 saves on 24 shots in goal for Marian.
Marian plays their final NACC game of the season traveling to Beloit Wednesday, April 27 for a 6 p.m. start.
