KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Marian University softball (4-6, 0-0 NACC) was defeated 10-2 in six innings by No. 21 Rochester and fell 3-2 against Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

GAME 1

  • The Sabres were able to score first against nationally-ranked Rochester when senior Emalee Depa was able to drive in a run in the top of the first.
  • The lead didn’t last long, however, as Rochester immediately scored two runs in the bottom of the first.
  • The Yellowjackets padded their lead with two runs in the second and five runs in the third.
  • Senior Katelyn Matenaer drove in a run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly before the final settled at 10-2 in six innings.

GAME 2

  • Pitching dominated in game two but the Sabres would fall just short against Saint Joseph’s of Maine.
  • The Monks scored in the top of the first before a double from senior Kaley Ludvigsen tied the game in the third.
  • The tie was broken in the next half inning when Saint Joseph’s of Maine plated a pair of runs.
  • A run-producing ground out by Matenaer cut the Marian deficit down to one in the fifth but the Sabres would be unable to plate the tying run.
  • The Sabres did put the tying run on base in the seventh after sophomore Alivia Ernst led the inning off with a single.
