MEQUON, Wis. – Marian University women’s basketball (6-14, 5-8 NACC) couldn’t recover after a slow start falling at CUW 78-66.
- Marian only led once in the game when holding a 4-3 advantage.
- The remainder of the first quarter was all CUW as the Falcons were able to take a 21-10 lead into the first break.
- CUW built its lead to as large as 16 and maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second quarter going into the half ahead 35-23.
- Marian battled to cut its deficit to single-digits on two occasions in the third quarter but the Falcons scored the final seven points of the quarter to take a 60-44 lead.
- The Falcons continued its momentum into the fourth quarter building its lead to as large as 20 points.
- Marian outscored the Falcons 22-18 for the final quarter but couldn’t overcome the tough first quarter.
- Marian went 26-of-69 (.371) from the field for the game and just 3-of-13 (.231) on three-pointers.
- Concordia Wisconsin was 29-of-65 (.446) for the game and 9-of-20 (.450) from beyond the arc.
- The Sabres outscored the Falcons 38-32 in the paint.
