Marian University women’s soccer (12-3-4, 11-2-1 NACC) scored a pair of goals in the second half to defeat Aurora 3-1 in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals.

  • Marian was able to get out to a quick start once again scoring just 11:33 into the match. Junior Abby Larson would net her seventh goal after receiving a pass from freshman Emily Gordillo.
  • Aurora had an answer with just 10:03 left in the half scoring off of a cross from a free kick.
  • The 1-0 score held going into halftime.
  • The Sabres had another fast start to begin the second half with junior Jacqueline Campos scoring her her third goal of the season just 1:17 into the second stanza. Larson and sophomore Brianna Guelig each assisted the goal.
  • Guelig then built the Marian lead to two goals with her third goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Junior Baylee Alvarado sent a cross into Guelig to earn an assist.
  • Marian would allow only one shot in the final 27 minutes to seal the 3-1 victory.
  • The win is the first postseason victory for Marian since 2013, not including an MSOE forfeit in the opening round of the 2018 NACC Tournament.
  • This was also the first time Marian had hosted a NACC Tournament game since the 2013 campaign.
  • Marian finished with an 11-5 advantage in shots and 6-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • There was only two corner kicks and they both belonged to Aurora.
  • The Sabres have now won five straight matches against Aurora with the victory being the first postseason win over the Spartans in four games.
