GENEVA, Ill. – Marian University women’s hockey (6-12-2, 3-4-0-3 NCHA) fell to Aurora by a 4-1 final to open an NCHA series.

The Sabres held the Spartans to just one goal in the opening period, a short-handed score at the 4:16 mark.  The Spartans would score 49 seconds into the second period and add a power-play goal to take a 3-0 advantage into the third.  Aurora widened their lead to four goals at the 4:59 mark.

Sophomore Aeryn Olson ended the Marian shutout scoring short-handed with just 1:59 left in regulation.

Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke (6-12-2) set a career-high making 56 saves in the defeat, her second performance with at least 50 saves this season.

Marian closes out the series at Aurora tomorrow, Saturday, February 5, for a noon puck drop.
