Marian University women’s tennis (3-8, 3-5 NACC) fell to St. Norbert in their final home match of the fall season 5-4.
The Sabres opened the match trailing 2-1 as Marian could only take the No. 3 doubles match. Katrina Pokorny and Abby Okon were able to team up for that victory by an 8-3 score. Marian was then able to split the singles matches, but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Carly Paulson continued her dominance at the No. 1 singles spot rallying from a first-set defeat to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. The victory was her fourth straight singles victory of the season at the top flight. Similarly, Aeryn Olson was able to win her fourth straight singles match at the No. 2 flight behind a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 score. Shelby Tryba competed for the first time this season at the No. 6 flight and rallied after dropping the first set in a tiebreak to take the second set 6-4 and then the third set with a 7-6, 10-5 tiebreak. Julia Loomans would go three sets at the No. 4 flight but couldn’t hold on after winning the first set in a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 defeat.
Marian closes out NACC play traveling to Illinois Tech Saturday, Oct. 9 for an 11 a.m. start.
