APPLETON, Wis. – Marian University women’s soccer (0-2-1, 0-0-0 NACC) was shut out for a second straight game falling at Lawrence 2-0.

The two squads were evenly matched in the opening stanza of the non-conference game with each team recording seven shots.  The Vikings were able to score a pair, however, in a span of 2:16 early in the half.

Lawrence was able to take advantage of their lead out of the halftime break and controlled the pace of play in the second half.  The Sabres would be outshot 11-3 in the final 45 minutes and be held to just two shots on goal.

Senior Shannon Coughlin and junior Ashley Welk each had four shots on goal to lead the Marian offense with both student-athletes recording a pair of shots on goal.  Junior Amy Birner (0-2-1) faced double-digit shots for the first time this season making eight stops including all five shots she faced in the second half.

Marian returns to Smith Field to host Saint Mary’s (Minn.) Saturday, Sept. 11 for a noon start.
