HUNTINGDON, Pa. / TOWSON, Md. – Marian University women’s lacrosse (0-3, 0-0 NACC) was defeated 22-2 by Juniata and 18-4 by Goucher to open their spring break trip.

Juniata was able to take control of the game early in the first match-up of the busy two days scoring 14 unanswered goals to open the game.  Freshman Izzy Newton got the Sabres on the board with 2:09 left until halftime with an assist to sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke.  Newton then scored her second goal of the game to open the fourth quarter without an assist.  Sophomore Dallas Kreisa would grab four ground balls and cause four turnovers, while freshman Gwen Kosirog made eight saves.

The Sabres then had their best offensive performance of the season against Goucher but another slow start proved to be costly.  The combination of Newton from Kolpitcke helped Marian score their first goal of the game before sophomore Emilee Magill scored her second goal of the season.  Sophomore Nicole Stachon opened the scoring for Marian in the second half with her first goal of the season.  Stachon then assisted Newton to close out the scoring for Marian.

Magill led the way in ground balls recording three with sophomore Marie Murphy forcing four turnovers.  Kosirog (0-3) would add another seven saves.

Marian travels to Notre Dame (Md.) to conclude their spring break Friday, March 11 for a 3 p.m. (CST) start.
