RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Marian University women’s lacrosse (5-5, 0-1 NACC) was defeated by one goal for the third time this season falling at Concordia Chicago 9-8.

  • Concordia Chicago was able to get off to a strong start scoring a pair of goals in the opening quarter to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • Marian scored three unanswered goals with two goals coming from sophomore Izzy Newton.
  • The Cougars responded with a goal with just 1:10 left until the half to put the score at 3-3 going into the break.
  • Marian would retake the lead in the third quarter at 6-5.
  • Concordia Chicago had an answer once again scoring four unanswered to take a 9-6 lead with 13:41 left to play.
  • The Sabres were able to cut the deficit down to one but couldn’t find an equalizing goal.
  • Marian had a 28-19 advantage in shots and 23-16 edge in ground balls.
  • Concordia Chicago had more draw controls at a 15-7 margin.
  • The Sabre defense had a strong game forcing 33 Cougar turnovers.
