HANCOCK, Mich. – Marian University women’s basketball (2-4, 0-0 NACC) was defeated by UW-Platteville 79-62 to conclude the Finlandia Thanksgiving Classic.

UW-Platteville was able to get out to a fast start shooting 9-14 (.643) from the field in the first quarter to build a 23-8 advantage.  Marian was able to bounce back in the second quarter outscoring UW-Platteville 16-14 with five different Sabres scoring.

The second half played out similarly to the second quarter with the Pioneers winning the third quarter by a 22-17 margin.  The Sabres responded with a 21-20 advantage in the final quarter but the Sabres were never able to dig out of their first-quarter hole.

Sophomore Serina Pehowski led the way for Marian with a game-high 18 points, while senior Paris Harris chipped in 17 points.  Pehowski was also able to grab eight rebounds, and senior Madison Holdiman had three blocks.

Marian returns home to take on Rockford Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in the NACC opener for both teams.
