PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Marian University women’s basketball (6-14, 4-10 NACC) fell to Lakeland 65-50 to split the season series with the Muskies.
Marian fell behind 15-4 to open the game before going on a 7-3 run to trail by just 18-11 after the first quarter of action. Both defenses came to play in the second quarter but Lakeland was able to build on their lead after outscoring the Sabres 12-9.
The Sabres were able to cut their deficit down to just eight points midway through the third quarter but the Muskies finished the quarter strong with a 14-6 spurt. The final quarter was the only quarter that saw Marian outscore the Muskies, but the Sabres were unable to erase the early deficit.
Senior Sierra Strope-Robinson posted her second double-double of the season scoring 13 points with 10 rebounds. Junior Brianna Martin also added 13 points with four steals in the defeat.
Marian travels to Aurora Saturday, February 12 for a 2 p.m. NACC match-up in their final road game of the regular season.
