DUBUQUE, Iowa – Marian University women’s basketball (0-2, 0-0 NACC) fell to Loras by a 68-55 final to open the Loras Tip-Off Classic.
A slow start proved to be costly for the Sabres as Loras was able to jump out to a quick 9-3 lead. This helped the Duhawks take an 18-12 advantage into the second quarter. Marian only trailed 25-18 with 5:05 left until halftime, but Loras was able to close out the quarter with a 14-5 run.
The third quarter was fairly even with the Duhawks managing to outscore Marian 15-12. The Sabres then put together their best quarter of the young season in the fourth. Marian was able to outscore Loras 20-14 and went 6-of-11 (.545) from the field.
Sophomore Lacey Frase led the Marian offense shooting 6-of-7 (.857) for a game-high 13 points.
Marian takes on Simpson tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12, for a 2 p.m. tip.
