Marian University women’s basketball (1-3, 0-0 NACC) trailed by just 11 points at halftime but fell to UW-River Falls by a 75-48 final.

The Falcons were able to get out to a fast start opening the game with a 13-2 run.  The Sabres were able to bounce back, however, and kept their deficit to 10 points at 26-16 after the first 10 minutes.  Marian was able to cut the Falcon lead down to single digits on several occasions in the second quarter as UW-River Falls managed to outscore the Sabres only by a 17-16 margin for the quarter.

The Marian offense then had a hard time in the second half as UW-River Falls held the Sabres to just 16 points between the final two quarters.  The Sabres had scored 16 points in both the first and second quarters.

The Sabres finished with a 42-38 edge in rebounds for the game after grabbing 17 offensive boards.

Senior Paris Harris led the way for Marian with a team-high 14 points, while sophomore Serina Pehowski came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds, three of which were on the offensive end.  Freshman Brianna Martin finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and an assist.

Marian travels to Finlandia to take on Northland Saturday, Nov. 27 for a 3 p.m. tip.
