LEESBURG, Fla. – Marian University softball (1-4, 0-0 NACC) dropped a pair of games 8-0 against Roanoke and Illinois College on day two of their spring trip.

The Sabres and Maroons were in a deadlock to open game one of the day but a late push from Roanoke forced a run-rule defeat for Marian.  Junior Emalee Depa held Roanoke scoreless after four innings of work, but the Maroons were able to plate four runs in the fifth inning.  After another four runs in the bottom of the sixth, Roanoke was able to stay unbeaten on the season.  Sophomore Katelyn Matenaer had two of the three Marian hits in the loss.

Game two of the day saw a similar script as Illinois College scored all of their runs after the third inning.  The Lady Blues were able to score two runs in the fourth inning, one being unearned, before breaking the game open with four runs in the fifth inning.  Illinois would add a run in the sixth and seventh to set the final at 8-0.  Junior Kaley Ludvigsen had a multi-hit game to lead the Sabre offense, while freshmen Kaitlyn Van De Hey and Lauren Heisdorf each recorded their first collegiate hit.

Senior Cailie Pliner (0-2) took the loss going 4.0 innings allowing eight hits, and Van De Hey tossed the final 3.0 innings.
