LISLE, Ill. – Marian University men’s volleyball (13-10, 6-5 NACC) opened the final weekend of NACC play falling to Benedictine 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, and 25-22.
- Marian opened with a 6-4 lead to start the set but Benedictine would use a 7-1 run to go ahead 11-7.
- This run proved to be just enough for the Eagles to take the opening set.
- After a 10-10 to open set two, Benedictine went on a 6-2 run to build a four-point lead.
- The Eagles took this lead out to 22-21.
- Marian was able to break through at the end of the set scoring four unanswered to even the sets at 1-1.
- The third set was all Benedictine as the Eagles jumped out to a 12-4 start and never looked back.
- The Eagles had a similarly strong start to open the fourth with a 17-11 advantage.
- Marian battled back using an 10-5 run to cut the deficit down to one at 22-21.
- Benedictine held off the Marian rally, however, ending the match in four sets.
- Benedictine held a 60-44 advantage in kills for the match.
- Marian had at least 12 kills in the first two sets of the match.
