WASHINGTON, Pa. – Marian University men’s lacrosse (0-3, 0-0 NACC) fell behind early and could never recovering falling to Washington & Jefferson 19-12.

The Presidents and Sabres traded goals with freshman Serge Simard scoring for Marian, assist to fellow freshman Cole Hales-Main.  W&J then scored eight unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead going into the second quarter.  After extending their lead to nine goals, Marian would outscore the Presidents 5-3 the remainder of the second period.  Hales-Main had a pair of the Sabre goal with senior Finn Maloney scoring the final two goals of the period to put the score at 13-6.

The comeback continued for the Sabres with Marian scoring a pair of man-up goals to open the third quarter.  Senior Nick Klotz would score with 32 seconds left for his second goal of the stanza to put Marian behind just 14-9 heading into the fourth.  The Presidents were able to open the fourth quickly scoring three of the first four goals.  After trading goals the rest of the way the Presidents were able to secure the 19-12 win.

Klotz had another big game for the Sabres recording seven points coming from four goals and three assists.  Hales-Main and Maloney each scored three times with a pair of assists as well.  Senior Masen Powless was able to grab five ground balls and Hales-Main caused a pair of turnovers.  Junior Richard Summers III (0-2) made eight saves in goal for the Sabres.

Marian travels to Oglethorpe Wednesday, March 9 for a 6 p.m. (CST) non-conference game.
