DE PERE, Wis. – Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (3-6-0, 2-4-0-0 NCHA) suffered a sweep against St. Norbert after falling 3-2.

  • Marian wasted no time finding the back of the net when junior Nicholas Cherkowski lit the lamp just 21 seconds into the game. Senior Jordan Simoneau earned an assist on the goal.
  • St. Norbert responded just 2:40 later with a power-play goal to even the score at 1-1.
  • Neither team lit the lamp in the remainder of the period.
  • Cherkowski found the back of the net a second time just 4:34 into the second stanza as Marian retook the lead. Simoneau earned another assist along with sophomore Noah Pickart.
  • The Green Knights once again responded just 1:51 later to put the score at 2-2 going into the final period.
  • St. Norbert would manage to take its first lead with just 5:24 remaining and held on for the sweep.
  • Outside of the early goals, it was a defensive battle with each team recording 22 shots.
  • The Marian power play went scoreless on two chances, while SNC scored one power-play goal on three chances.
  • St. Norbert has now won the last three meetings against Marian.
