GENEVA, Ill. – Marian University men’s hockey (6-10-3, 1-7-2-0 NCHA) had a slow start and fell to No. 15 Aurora 7-3.

The Spartans scored a pair of goals to open the game separated by just 54 seconds.  Sophomore Ty Mosimann then lit the lamp for Marian at the 9:06 mark with an assist to senior Blaine Caton.  Aurora was then able to score to go ahead 3-1 in the final minute of the opening period.  The second period was much quieter with the Spartans scoring the only goal of the period.

Aurora found themselves up 5-1 to open the third period before Caton lit the lamp on the power play at the 10:41 mark, assists to senior Parker Colley and Mosimann.  Aurora immediately responded to extend their lead back to four goals before sophomore Brady Lynn scored with just 55 seconds left, assist to Colley.  The Spartans found the back of the net one more time in the final minute to set the final at 7-3.

Marian was outshot in the game 53-33 with five different skaters sending three shots on goal.  Junior Colby Muise (5-9-3) took the loss making 32 saves, while sophomore Aaron Brunn came in relief to stop 14 shots in the final period.

Marian closes out the series at Aurora tomorrow, Saturday, January 29, for a 3 p.m. puck drop.
