Marian University men’s hockey (6-8-3, 1-7-0-2 NCHA) dropped a game filled with specials team against No. 7 St. Norbert 2-1.

After killing off a minor and major penalty, the Green Knight power-play unit finally would strike in the final minute of the opening period to take a 1-0 lead.  Another St. Norbert power-play goal came at the 5:54 mark of the second period to give the Green Knights a 2-0 edge.  After the opening two periods of action each team had 15 shots on goal.

Marian was finally able to strike with just 26 seconds remaining with an extra skater on the ice.  Sophomore Ty Mosimann would bury a bouncing rebound in front of the net for his fourth goal of the season with assists to seniors Blaine Caton and Nathan Walker.  Marian would create a pair of chances to nearly tie the game but were unable to force an extra period.

St. Norbert held a 31-24 advantage for shots with senior Parker Colley and sophomore Brady Lynn each recording three shots for Marian.  Junior Colby Muise (5-8-3) finished with 29 saves and stopped all 16 shots he faced in the third period.

Marian closes out the series at SNC tomorrow night, Saturday, January 22, for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
