APPLETON, Wis. – Marian University men’s hockey (6-7-2, 1-6-1-0 NCHA) lost a defensive battle to Lawrence by a 4-1 final.
It didn’t take the Sabres long to score with sophomore Ty Mosimann lighting the lamp just 1:36 into the game, assist to senior Gianni Vitali. The Vikings found an equalizer with just 1:31 left on the clock to send the two teams to a 1-1 draw after one period. This tie held up after the second period with neither team scoring.
Lawrence would score at the 9:44 mark of the third period and netted two empty-net goals at the end of the period to set the final at 4-1.
The Sabres had double-digit shots in only the first period and were outshot 27-25 for the game. Sophomore Anthony Bilka paced the offense for Marian with four shots on goal. Junior Colby Muise (5-7-2) made 23 saves and held Lawrence scoreless on four power plays.
Marian closes out the Battle of Highway 41 at home tomorrow, Saturday, January 15, for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
