AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Marian University baseball (2-2, 0-0 NACC) suffered their first losses of the season being swept by Concordia Moorhead 6-4 and 5-1.

The Cobbers were able to get out to a fast start scoring five runs in the first three innings of game one.  A sixth run would come across in the top of the sixth before Marian mounted a rally with their last chance at the dish.  Graduate student Sean Meyer was able to draw a walk with the bases loaded to get Marian on the board.  Sophomore Riley Palmquist then cleared the bases with a double to put the Sabres down 6-4.  Marian would manage to get the tying run on base but were unable to complete the rally.

Freshman Dylan Davis had a strong first appearance in a Sabre uniform tossing the final 4.0 innings allowing just two hits and one run.  Palmquist led the offense going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in.

Marian was able to get out to a quick start in game two with senior Josh Gates driving in fellow senior Jonah Landowski with a single in the first inning.  The Sabre lead would last until the third when the Cobbers plated three runners.  Concordia Moorhead added insurance in the sixth with a pair of runs to set the final at 5-1.

Gates was the lone Sabre to reach base safely multiple times with his RBI single and a walk.  Sophomore Tyler Blum tossed 2.0 innings of relief allowing just two hits with four punch outs.

Marian takes on Rhode Island College tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8, for a 9 a.m. (CST) first pitch.
