SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Marian University baseball (8-7, 1-1 NACC) earned a 9-2 win before falling in game two 4-3 in 10 innings against Dominican.

GAME 1

  • Pitching dominated early but Marian was able to pull away after scoring eight runs in the final four innings.
  • Junior Albert Kiszka opened the scoring when he drove in a run in the second.
  • The Sabres added to the lead with junior Robbie Knorr driving in a pair of runs in the sixth.
  • Dominican responded in the next half inning to cut the Marian lead to 3-2.
  • The Sabres ended any thoughts of a rally with an error bringing in a run in the seventh to open a dominating finish.
  • In the eighth, junior Logan Rademan and sophomore James Bornick each brought in a run to put Marian ahead 6-2.
  • The ninth saw Kiszka drive in two more runs followed by a sacrifice fly from sophomore Andrew Schroeder.

GAME 2

  • Marian led for most of game two but Dominican was able to force extras and earn a split with a walk-off.
  • Bornick opened the scoring for the game in the third with a double that scored two runs.
  • Rademan then gave Marian a 3-0 lead in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.
  • The Stars responded with two runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth to tie the game at 3-3.
  • After a quiet ninth, Dominican took advantage of an error in the 10th to salvage the split.
