Noah Ray has been announced to take over the Marian men’s and women’s volleyball programs.

“I would like to welcome Noah to the Marian family,” said Director of Athletics Tony Draves. “Noah has a real passion for coaching volleyball and mentoring student-athletes. We’re excited to have him continue the tremendous progress of both programs.”

Ray spent the past season at Birmingham-Southern College. The Panthers would have a pair of student-athletes earn All-SAA Second Team recognition and Academic All-District honors from the organization College Sports Communicators.

Prior to BSC, Ray served as an assistant coach for the men’s volleyball program at Juniata College. In his lone season with the Eagles, Juniata would claim a share of the regular season conference championship after going 30-3 overall with a 7-1 record in Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) play. The Eagles then won the conference tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history, first time since 2017. Juniata was able to sweep Baldwin Wallace in the opening round before being eliminated by No. 4 Messiah.

“I would like to thank Tony Draves and President Majewski for this opportunity to lead the Marian volleyball programs,” said Ray. “When I first arrived to campus I fell in love with the university and the campus community. Both programs have a great foundation and I feel extremely blessed to be a part of the MU family. Go Sabres!”

Ray began his coaching career at Midway University following his collegiate career as a tennis and volleyball student-athlete. He would serve as a student assistant coach for the women’s volleyball program while at Midway. He went on to earn a bachelors degree in sports management with minors in human resource management and psychology.

He then served as a graduate assistant for the women’s volleyball program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Ray is currently pursuing a masters degree in sports administration from SOSU.

Ray brings with him a wealth of experience at the club volleyball level serving as a head coach with Out of System Volleyball Club, Bluegrass Lightning Boys Volleyball Club, and FEVA Volleyball Club. He most recently was with FEVA Volleyball Club where he served as a head coach at the U18, U16, and U15 levels.
