March Sabres of the MonthSenior Paige Rauhut of Marian University softball and junior Nick Dugandzic of Sabre baseball have been named the Sabres of the Month for March.

Rauhut (McHenry, Ill.) had a dominant spring break posting a 1.62 earned run average over seven starts and nine appearances.  She would toss three complete games with one shutout and one save over her 42.0 innings earning four wins.  Rauhut would also post 46 punch outs with 17 of her strikeouts coming in an extra-inning win over Geneva, the second-highest total for a single game in program history.  She also had a dominant performance against Olivet allowing just one hit in her first shutout of the season.  Rauhut also had a strong performance against Susquehanna where she tossed 4.1 innings and only allowed one hit in a tough-luck loss.  She was able to earn a NACC pitcher of the week award after opening the trip 3-0 with a 1.24 earned-run average over 17.0 innings.

Dugandzic (Watertown, Wis.) could not be slowed down at the plate leading the Sabre offense on their annual trip to Florida.  The junior catcher hit .481 at the dish going 13-for-27 scoring nine runs and driving in a team-best eight runs.  He was also patient at the dish drawing a team-high seven walks to give him a .588 on-base percentage over eight games.  Dugandzic was held hitless in just one game for the week posting four multi-hit games including a pair of three-hit games.  In the opener against Bethany Lutheran, Dugandzic went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and run scored driving in five runs in a 15-3 win.  He also had three games where he scored multiple runs, and in his only hitless game of the week, he was still able to draw three walks.
