MILWAUKEE – Seniors Serina Pehowski and Kaitlyn Merrill of Marian University women’s volleyball have been named All-NACC.

Pehowski (West Allis, Wis.) was one of the top middles in the NACC this season and closes her career with a Second Team All-NACC award. She led the Sabres with her 242 kills, 2.47 kills per set average, 300.5 points, and 33 service aces on the season. At the net, she was also second on the squad with her 43 total blocks, eight of which were solo blocks. Pehowski had nine performances with double-digit kills with a season-high of 17 coming against Marietta and Lakeland. Then against Central, Pehowski narrowly missed a double-double recording nine blocks with just as many digs. She also had 12 matches this season with multiple blocks posting a season-high five assisted blocks against Edgewood.

Merrill (Livonia, Mich.) becomes the first Sabre to earn multiple all-conference awards since Jessica Roberts in 2014 and 2015 earning honorable mention honors. Merrill was once again a useful weapon offensively for the Sabres ranking second on the squad with her 224 kills, 2.46 kills per set, and 260.5 total points. She also finished third on the team with 29 blocks, fourth for digs at 123, and fifth on the squad with 20 service aces. Merrill had 12 matches with double-digit kills posting a season-high 13 against Coe and at Dominican. She was able to finish her Marian career on a high note recording nine kills, nine digs, and two assisted blocks in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals against St. Norbert.

This marks the first time since 2005 multiple student-athletes from the Marian women’s volleyball program have earned all-conference recognition, first time in the NACC era. Marian women’s volleyball enjoyed a breakout 2023 season that ended with the Sabres playing in the postseason for the first time since 2014. The Sabres posted a winning overall record for just the second time in the NACC era and had the first winning record in conference play in the NACC era.
