CHICAGO – Marian University men’s soccer (3-8-0, 0-6-0 NACC) fell to IIT on the road 2-1 in NACC action.

The Scarlet Hawks were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the opening stanza and outshot the Sabres 7-3 in the process.  Marian was able to bounce back in the second half scoring just 6:06 into the period.  Sophomore Max Kauffman was able to find the back of the net for the eighth time this season with a helper from freshman Drew Cowden.

The tie didn’t last long, however, as IIT was able to retake the lead for good just 8:52 later.  Freshman Giuliano Corazzina nearly tied the game with 3:20 left to play but his shot would hit the left post.  The Sabres and Scarlet Hawks each had five shots in the second half.

Corazzina had three shots to lead the squad with Kauffman also recording a pair of shots, both on goal.  Freshman Aaron Perez (0-2-0) made four stops in goal for Marian.

Marian returns home to take on Dominican Wednesday, Oct. 6 with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
