BELOIT, Wis. – The Marian University baseball (11-8, 4-2 NACC) offense had a big series as the Sabres swept Rockford 13-5 and 15-1 in seven innings.

GAME 1

  • Marian scored in all but two innings in game one and never trailed.
  • The Sabres built a 3-0 lead scoring two in the first and one in the third.
  • Rockford cut that deficit to one in the second with a home run.
  • Marian plated three more unanswered runs with sophomore Gus Walker driving in a run with a double in the third and two more Sabres scoring in the fourth.
  • The Regents once again cut into the deficit with two runs in the fifth before Marian scored seven unanswered to pull away.
  • Sophomore Andrew Schroeder drove in two runs and junior Logan Rademan had a run-producing double to highlight the run.
  • The Regents would score once in the eighth to put the final at 13-5.
  • Six different Marian hitters had multiple hits and all but one starter recorded a run driven in.

GAME 2

  • The Marian offense wasted no time in game two scoring nine runs in the first inning.
  • Senior Jeremy Laffoon highlighted the inning driving in two runs with a double.
  • The Sabres tacked on a run in the second and third with Walker hitting in another double in the third to plate a run.
  • Rockford scored its lone run in the third before Marian scored four more runs unanswered.
  • The Sabres plated a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to set the mercy-rule final at 15-1.
