DE PERE, Wis. – Marian University women’s volleyball (15-14, 7-6 NACC) fell to St. Norbert in three sets in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals despite a strong performance 25-20, 25-21, and 25-23.

  • Marian jumped out to a fast 6-3 start in set one before St. Norbert tied things up 8-8.
  • The Green Knights would go on an 11-6 run to take a five point lead.
  • The Sabres were able to hold off one Green Knight set point but the five point differential proved to be enough to hold down the Sabres in set one.
  • Another fast start for the Sabres saw Marian go on a 5-2 run but the Green Knights once again tied things up 8-8.
  • The two teams would trade points with Marian holding the slim 15-14 lead before a 5-0 St. Norbert run would give the Green Knights a 19-15 lead.
  • Marian was able to answer with a 5-0 run of its own to take the lead 20-19.
  • St. Norbert held off a Sabres with a 6-1 run to finish set two.
  • Set three saw the Green Knights start on a 5-2 run and then extend its lead to five at 12-7.
  • The Sabres fought back into set three behind a 9-3 run to take the lead 16-15.
  • A 4-0 run by the Green Knights gave St. Norbert the lead 19-16
  • Marian would not go away without a fight as the Sabres were able to tie things up 23-23 before two St. Norbert kills would put the Sabres away.
  • Both offenses had a strong day but the Green Knights held the slim 35-33 advantage in kills.
  • The Sabre defense remained strong and held the advantage in digs 66-59.
  • Even play between the two teams was a common theme as both teams recorded seven blocks as well as 33 assists.
  • Marian was able to force 17 Green Knight hitting errors with 10 coming in the second set.
