MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Izzy Newton and junior Gwen Kosirog of Marian University women’s lacrosse have been named the NACC Players of the Week.

Newton (Oregon, Wis.) opened the season with a multi-goal game against Carthage after earning NACC Freshman of the Year honors last year. She now has a streak of six straight games scoring multiple goals dating back to last season and has 12 multi-goal efforts in her career. Newton also had a pair of ground balls and draw controls against the Firebirds.

Kosirog (Burlington, Wis.) had a busy day in goal against Carthage in the season opener. She would stop 13 shots against Carthage and finished the game with a 41.9 save percentage. The performance was the fifth time in her career she has made double-digit saves. Kosirog also had two ground balls against the Firebirds and caused a turnover.
