CHICAGO – Marian University women’s lacrosse (6-7, 1-3 NACC) earned its first NACC victory of the season defeating

  • Illinois Tech was able to jump out to a quick start with a 5-1 lead.
  • Marian scored five of the next six goals to tie the game at 6-6 and from there neither team led by more than two goals.
  • The two squads traded goals to go into halftime tied at 8-8.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth to open the third quarter and were tied 12-12.
  • The Scarlet Hawks took a 14-12 lead after scoring the final goal of the third quarter and the first goal of the fourth quarter.
  • Marian then rattled off four straight goals, three from junior Dallas Kreisa, to take the lead for good.
  • IIT would score two of the final three goals of the game but Marian would hold on for the one-goal win.
  • Marian improved to 2-2 this season in one-goal games with the win.
  • The Sabres held a 40-34 advantage in shots for the game.
  • The Marian defense forced 27 IIT turnovers and committed just 16.
  • Illinois Tech won 24 of the 36 draw control opportunities.
