Marian University women’s lacrosse (4-3, 0-0 NACC) set a program record for wins in a single season with a 13-6 win over Wartburg.

  • Marian scored the first two goals of the game only to have Wartburg responded with a pair of scores.
  • The Sabres were able to answer taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter with the final two goals of the opening quarter.
  • The Knights were able to tie the game at 4-4 with 12:56 left until half before sophomore Izzy Newton put Marian ahead 5-4 going into the break.
  • After trading goals to open the third, Marian scored three unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead into the final stanza.
  • The two squads once again traded goals to open the fourth quarter.
  • The Sabres were able to put the game away scoring the final three goals of the game.
  • Marian outshot the Knights by a 41-14 margin and had a 16-1 advantage in the final quarter.
  • The Sabre defense forced 33 turnovers and held the Knights to just 6-of-29 (.207) on clears.
  • The Marian clear finished 10-of-13 (.769) for the game.
  • Ground balls were in favor of the Sabres as well by a 37-23 margin.
