Marian University women’s hockey (4-8-2, 1-3-0-2 NCHA) scored a pair of goals in the final period to defeat Northland 2-0 and earn a home sweep.

Similarly to the opener of the series, neither team was able to tickle the twine after two periods of action.  Marian was able to outshoot the LumberJills in each period, however, and led 19-14 in shots.  Freshman Sydney Schipper was able to break the tie with just 7:36 left on the clock with assists to freshman Madeline Chimenti and junior Kristen Bisschop.  Junior Brooke Anderson then scored in her fourth consecutive game with an empty-net goal with just 1:13 left to play, assist to sophomore Brenna Abrahamson.

The Sabres finished with a 32-25 advantage in shots with sophomore Brynn Weaver recording a game-high five shots.  Sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke posted her second shutout of the season stopping all 25 shots she faced.

Marian closes out the season series with UW-Stevens Point Tuesday, January 18 on the road at 7 p.m.
