Marian University women’s ice hockey (3-9-1, 0-5-0-1 NCHA) improved to 3-1-0 in the second half with a 3-1 win over Northland.

  • The opening period saw senior Brooke Anderson open the scoring with her third goal of the game at the 7:16 mark. Senior Rheanne Peigan and freshman Aubriella Westphal each earned an assist.
  • Northland answered just 1:01 later to put the game at 1-1 going into the second period.
  • The Sabre power play then came up big scoring a pair of goals opening with sophomore Sydney Schipper scoring her third goal at the 14:10 mark of the second period. Anderson along with freshman Logan Crawford each earned an assist.
  • Sophomore Allie Kieffer then gave Marian a two-goal cushion with 8:38 left to play in the game with her second goal of the season. Junior Brynn Weaver and senior Alyssa Heim were credited with assists.
  • Marian finished with a 33-27 advantage for shots and outshot the LumberJills 18-7 in the second period.
  • The Sabres held Northland scoreless on two power plays and scored twice with an extra skater in five chances.
  • It was a strong game for the Marian forwards with the Sabres going 33-21 (.611) in the faceoff circle.
