FORT ATKINSON, Wis. – Marian University women’s bowling earned a victory at the Warhawk Classic after averaging 912 pins per game.
The Sabres opened the event with a 5-0 showing on the opening day averaging 936 pins per game in the traditional matches. Marian had three games above 950 with a 1,007 coming in their second traditional match. Alyssa Ritchie led the entire field with 993 pins for a 198.6 average over five games. She had three games above 200 with a 234 coming in her final game of the day. Brenna Schiekiera then finished fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 192.8 average, while Jenna Betts earned an eight-place finish at 178.6 pins per game.
Marian then recorded 858 and 845 in a pair of Baker games to enter tournament play. The Sabres would drop their opening round match-up with UW-Whitewater despite a 944. Marian was able to bounce back quickly, however, defeating Carthage 868-841 to earn a rematch with UW-Whitewater. Five consistent scores in the championship match helped lead Marian to an 847-837 victory over the Warhawks to earn the tournament title.
Marian travels to the Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill. for the Motiv Warhawk Open Dec. 4-5.
