Marian University women’s basketball (5-11, 3-4 NACC) earned a bounce-back win defeating Dominican 72-38 at home.

  • Dominican would score the first basket of the game but Marian responded scoring 16 of the next 18 points to build a 16-4 advantage.
  • The Sabres would lead by as much as 13 in the first quarter only to have Dominican score four unanswered to finish the stanza and trail 19-10.
  • The second quarter opened with a 24-14 Marian lead with the Sabres then scoring seven unanswered to build their lead to 17.
  • Marian would cruise into halftime with that 17-point advantage and the score at 36-19.
  • The Sabres would put together their best quarter in the third outscoring Dominican 20-7 and holding the Stars to just three field goals.
  • After trading baskets to start the third, Marian scored 12 straight points to build a 30-point cushion at 51-21.
  • The 30-point advantage carried over into the fourth quarter at 56-26.
  • Marian was able to build its lead to as large as 36 points in the final stanza before the final score settled at 72-38.
  • Marian shot 26-of-68 (.382) in the victory and 10-of-29 (.345) on three-pointers.
  • The Sabres hit double-digit three-pointers for just the second time this season.
  • The Sabre defense took care of its end as well holding the Stars to 17-of-60 (.283) shooting and zero three-pointers on 14 attempts.
  • The Marian defense forced 17 turnovers and outscored Dominican 19-8 in points off of turnovers.
  • The Sabres also finished with a 17-7 edge in fast break points.
  • In the win, Marian scored more than 70 points for just the third time since the shortened 2021 season.
  • Marian improves to 19-15 all-time against Dominican and has won four of the last five match-ups.
