MILWAUKEE – Marian University women’s basketball (4-10, 2-3 NACC) bounced back with an 82-61 win over Alverno on the road.

  • The Sabres took an early edge scoring the first 11 points of the game.
  • An 11-2 run to end the first quarter saw Marian take a 30-10 lead after 10 minutes of action.
  • An evenly matched second quarter saw Marian build its lead to as large as 26 but Marian would settle for a 50-30 advantage going into halftime.
  • The third stanza opened in a similar fashion but a stretch of eight unanswered points from the Sabres gave Marian a 28-point lead at 66-38.
  • This set the tone for Marian to go into the final quarter leading 71-45.
  • Alverno would outscore Marian 16-11 over the final 10 minutes but Marian would secure its second NACC win of the season.
  • Marian went 29-of-68 (.426) from the field and 5-of-16 (.313) from beyond the arc.
  • The Marian defense held Alverno to 23-of-70 (.329) shooting for the game.
  • The Sabres held a large advantage in the block outscoring Alverno 48-22 in the paint and 25-9 in second chance opportunities.
  • Marian finished with a 57-33 advantage in rebounds with 19 offensive boards.
  • This marks just the second time Marian has scored more than 80 points since the 2016-17 season.
  • The Sabres improve to 22-17 all-time against Alverno with wins in the last four match-ups.
