KISSIMEE, Fla. – Marian University softball (4-0, 0-0 NACC) earned a 3-2 win over Illinois College and 10-5 victory over La Roche to open THE Spring Games.

GAME 1

  • Pitching dominated to open the day as neither team was able to score through the first five innings.
  • Illinois was able to score once in the sixth and once in the seventh to take a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
  • Marian was able to rally in their last chance, however, scoring three times to earn a walk off win. All of the Marian runs were scored with two outs.
  • Junior Katelyn Matenaer opened the rally with a run-producing single before senior Emalee Depa tied the game in the next at bat.
  • Freshman Ariana Schliepp ended the game with a single that scored Matenaer for the walk off.
