MILWAUKEE – Marian University softball received 157 total points to finish eighth in the NACC preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches and athletic communication professionals of the league.

Concordia Wisconsin, which has captured three of the last four NACC titles, was picked as a near-unanimous favorite receiving 337 total points and 25 of the first-place selections. MSOE was picked just two points ahead of Aurora at 293 and 291, respectively, with the Spartans grabbing the final first-place selection. Benedictine and Dominican were the final two institutions to get more than 200 points, while Edgewood took the sixth spot at 199 to finalize the preseason picks for the NACC Tournament.

Lakeland was just behind the Eagles at 195 followed by Marian with 157. Concordia Chicago was the final school to receive more than 100 points and finished just below Marian. St. Norbert and Wisconsin Lutheran finished next with the poll being rounded out by Rockford and Alverno.

Marian opens the season Sunday, February 26 taking on Northland and UW-Stevens Point from Rhinelander, Wis. at the UTC Invite, hosted by UWSP.
