LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (7-9-0, 2-6-1-0 NCHA) defeated Lake Forest 6-5 in overtime.

  • Marian opened the scoring with a power play score 8:11 in when senior Ty Mosimann scored his first goal of the season.
  • The Foresters responded with a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of the period to take a 2-1 lead into intermission.
  • Freshman Cole Carlson tied the game 5:12 into the second period with his third goal of the year.
  • Lake Forest had an answer with just 3:45 in the period, however, to head into the third with a 3-2 lead.
  • The Sabres dominated the opening minutes of overtime to retake the lead at 5-3.
  • Senior Alex Rondeau tied the game with a power play goal just 2:32 into the period, his third goal of the campaign.
  • Just 15 seconds later, senior Austin Nault gave Marian the lead.
  • Nault extended the Marian lead out to two goals at the 5:32 mark with his third goal of the year, second of the game.
  • Lake Forest closed to within one with 11:27 to play and found its equalizer with an extra attacker goal and just 1:27 left on the clock.
  • Marian would bounce back in overtime with Rondeau scoring his second of the game 1:30 into the extra session to secure the extra point.
  • Marian outshot the Foresters in all three periods finishing with a 49-28 advantage. The Sabres had four shots in overtime while holding LFC to zero.
  • The Sabres had a strong day on special teams with the power play going 2-for-3 and the penalty kill holding off LFC on just one opportunity.
  • Lake Forest held a slim 40-38 advantage on face offs.
