Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (6-10-0, 1-6-2-0 NCHA) needed just nine seconds of overtime to defeat Lawrence 1-0.
- Marian came out and dominated the opening period recording 14 shots.
- The second period was more balanced with senior Colby Muise making a pair of big stops to keep Lawrence off the scoreboard. The Vikings held an 11-9 advantage in shots for the period.
- The final stanza saw the Sabres control the puck for the majority of the period but were unable to find the back off the net.
- In overtime, Marian was able to create a two-on-one off of the opening faceoff and sophomore Jaymes Knee buried his seventh goal of the season from the right circle. Senior Blake Kleiner earned an assist on the goal.
- Marian finished with a 34-23 advantage in shots outshooting Lawrence in two of the three periods.
- Marian held the Vikings scoreless on three power-play chances, while the Sabre power play unit didn’t have any chances.
- This is the second consecutive game in the all-time series with Lawrence that has gone into overtime.
