Marian University men’s volleyball (8-4, 1-0 NACC) easily defeated Wittenberg and Wabash in straight sets in non-conference action.

MARIAN VS. WITTENBERG

  • The Sabres dominated at the net in the opening match of the day defeating Wittenberg 25-22, 25-18, and 25-22.
  • The two sides were tied 17-17 to open the match but a quick three unanswered from Marian proved to be enough.
  • The second set went back-and-forth with Wittenberg eventually leading 13-11.
  • The Sabres then went on a 9-3 run to go ahead 20-16.
  • Marian would close out the set with four unanswered points as well.
  • Marian jumped out to a 10-5 lead to open the third and built its lead to as large as 18-11 to secure the sweep.

MARIAN VS. WABASH

  • Marian then dominated on the offensive end in the second match of the day to defeat Wabash 25-19, 25-22, and 25-16.
  • The two squads opened the match tied at 7-7 but a 6-3 run from the Sabres later in the set allowed Marian to pull away.
  • Similarly, Marian led 15-14 in the second set before going on a 6-1 run to pull ahead at 21-16.
  • The Sabres then used a quick start jumping out to an 8-1 lead to easily secure a sweep.

MARIAN VS. WITTENBERG

  • Marian finished with a .287 hitting percentage for the match with each team recording 36 kills.
  • The Sabre defense had 12 blocks and 36 digs.
  • Marian improves to 7-0 against Wittenberg all-time.

MARIAN VS. WABASH

  • The Sabres hit .300 for the match with at least 11 kills in each set.
  • Marian finished with a 40-27 advantage in kills.
  • The Sabres are now 2-0 all-time against the Little Giants.
