Marian University men’s volleyball (12-2, 1-0 NACC) defeated Millikin in straight sets and Illinois Wesleyan in four sets at their home invite.

The Sabres overcame a slow start to the day to defeat the Big Blue 25-17, 28-26, and 25-19.  Marian had double-digit kills in all three sets hitting .458 in the first set and recording 19 kills in the second.  The Sabres finished with 43 kills and hit .278 as a team.

Junior Cam Muller and sophomore Derek Wills each had a match-high 12 kills to lead the offense.  Senior Carzell Combs paced the back row recording nine digs, while fellow senior Zack Zelenik assisted 38 kills.

Marian controlled Illinois Wesleyan in the final match of the Marian Invite with one slight blemish defeating the Titans 25-15, 23-25, 25-11, and 25-18.  The Sabres had another efficient match hitting .302 with 45 kills, while the defense posted 12 total blocks.

Wills filled up the stat sheet recording 14 kills to go with four service aces and eight digs.  At the net, senior Liam Skinner had two solo blocks and nine total blocks.  Sophomore Aaron Velasco posted a double-double with 11 kills and just as many digs.

Marian opens a five-match road trip at Wisconsin Lutheran Tuesday, February 15 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
