DUBUQUE, Iowa – Marian University men’s volleyball (4-3, 0-0 NACC) defeated Fontbonne for the first time in program history with set scores of 26-24, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-19.
- Marian trailed for most of the first set but were able to rally late scoring six of the final eight points of the set.
- The roles reversed in the second set as Marian led by as much as 22-13.
- Fontbonne was able to rally and held off one Marian set-point opportunity to win the set.
- Marian was able to open the third set with a 16-9 advantage and this time didn’t allow Fontbonne back in the match.
- The Sabres were able to lead 18-15 to open the fourth set and dominated the remainder of the set using a 7-4 spurt to close out the victory.
- Marian had 52 kills on the offensive end and hit .254 for the match. The Sabres hit at least .200 in all four sets.
- The Sabre defense had 11 blocks and held Fontbonne to a .159 hitting percentage.
- The win was the first for Marian against Fontbonne in six matches played.
